Haraden Family Foundation
About Us
Who We Are
The Haraden family has called Schenectady County and the Capital Region home since the early 1900s. Joseph Haraden was recruited by Thomas Edison to come work for General Electric after graduating from MIT. Seeing a need for a car dealership in the booming city of Schenectady, Joseph Haraden began what is now Mohawk Honda in 1919. The dealership would become the first Honda dealership in the area in 1971 and moved to its current location in Glenville in 2011, while maintaining its original Schenectady location to serve that community. Now in its third generation of ownership, the Haraden family keeps the local community at the heart of what Mohawk Honda does.

What We Do
While giving back to the community has been a cornerstone of the mission of Mohawk Honda and its employees, the Haraden family made it the highlight of the 100th anniversary of the dealership in 2019. Mohawk Honda announced in the fall of 2018 that they would be donating $10,000 to 10 local charities each and the employees of Mohawk Honda would be donating 10,000 hours of volunteer time. The foundation will continue the tradition of giving in the future.
